Due to illnesses on the part of presenters, we have had to rearrange the schedule slightly. The Journalism for Bloggers session has been cancelled, and replaced with an additional showing of We Are Wisconsin - The Film.
The bloggers panel has been cancelled and replaced with an informal session on web techonology lead by Steve Hanson.
Sorry fot any inconvenience this may cause, but some of our participants have had to cancel their appearance at the conference.
We would greatly appreciate it if you would pre-register for the conference by using the Register for Netroots Wis 2012 link above. This will help greatly both with planning for the day and with helping to pay for the conference. You will also then not need to stand in line to register on the day of the conference.
Also - please note that we will stop selling full registrations (with meals) at the end of the day on Tuesday, May 15, since we will need to get numbers to the conference center for food. We willl continue to sell $10 non-food admissions on-line through Thursday night, at FightingBobFest North on Saturday, and at the door on Sunday, May 20.
We've had some concerns from people who would like to attend just one part of the conference, and who will not be able to be there for lunch. We've now set up a special rate for the conference that does not include breakfast or lunch. This may be particularly helpful for those who would like to attend, for example, just the afternoon sand-mining session, or would like to just attend the two film screenings in the afternoon. You may now register for just $10, which will allow you to attend, but not have any food at the conference. Late registrations will only be eligible for that rate. We hope this will make it possible for more people to attend.
A block of rooms will be available at the Avalon Hotel and Conference Center for Netroots Wisconsin. The rooms are at a discounted rate of $87.00. If you are interested, please contact the hotel at 715-723-2281. The discount code for the rooms is B1KT12.
Other rooms are available in Chippewa Falls at other hotels, and camping is available at the Northern States Fair Ground, where FightingBobFest North is also being held the day before. See http://fightingbobfestnorth.org and http://www.norwisstatefair.com/fairhill.htm for more details on Fighting Bob and camping.
Netroots Wisconsin 2012 will take place in the ballroom of the Avalon Conference Center in Chipewa Falls, WI. It's outside of Chippewa Falls, and just down the road from FightingBobFest North, which takes place the day before. The conference will include a light breakfast with coffee, and a catered lunch.
Sesssion proposals are open. Wide Open. You don't even need an account on the site to propose one. Just click on the "Propose a session" link at the top of the site, fill in the form, and we'll see what we can do to get your session to happen.
You may now register for Netroots Wisconsin 2012 on-line. Please let us know if you have any trouble with the registration form, or have any questions. There will also be a sponsorship page by the end of the day where you can learn about opportunities to sponsor Netroots Wisconsin 2012.
I've opened the ability to write session proposals. THis is stilll a little on the shakey side, so please bear with us if there are any issues. To propose a session you will need to create an account on the site - see the login block at the right of the front page. After you do that, you'll see a Propose A Session link at the top of the site -- click on it and propose away!
Sorry that progress here has been slow --- life has been completely nuts in Wisconsin recently. Netroots Wisconsin is at least in part about working together to take back our state, and to find strategic ways to do so. Recent events make it clear that we need to keep plugging away.
That being said, I have made myself a promise that by next week the site will have:
1. More information on the conference.
2. Information on sponsorships and a way to sign up for sponsorships.
3. Better linkage to other social media.
4. A way for people to propose panels and sessions.
