Netroots Wisconsin is a non-partisan meeting of bloggers, citizen journalists, activists, and others doing progressive work in Wisconsin. Netroots Wisconsin 2012 is scheduled for May 20, 2012, and will take place at the Avalon Hotel and Conference Center, Chippewa Falls, WI. This year our emphasis is on the topics that have affected Wisconsin in 2011 and 2012, and what you can do to effectively fix it.

Why does the GOP continually wage war on women when the votes of women may well determine the outcome of the 2012 election cycle? Why does this matter? What can you do about it?
How will this help build Wisconsin Netroots?:
It's one of the most important issues facing us in Wisconsin this year, as the legislature continually passed anti-women legislation in the state.
Sesssion proposals are open. Wide Open. You don't even need an account on the site to propose one. Just click on the "Propose a session" link at the top of the site, fill in the form, and we'll see what we can do to get your session to happen.

We are working on a session about sand mining in Wisconsin. Wisconsin is ground zero for frac sand mining in the United States, and sand mine proposals are cropping up all over the western part of the state. This morning session will be an educational session about sand mining and the issues involved. There will also be an afternoon session about organizing and activism.
How will this help build Wisconsin Netroots?:
Sand mining is a very contentious issue in the state at the moment, and this will be an effective way to organize and to get people introduced as a sand mining working committee.

I've opened the ability to write session proposals. THis is stilll a little on the shakey side, so please bear with us if there are any issues. To propose a session you will need to create an account on the site - see the login block at the right of the front page. After you do that, you'll see a Propose A Session link at the top of the site -- click on it and propose away!
Sorry that progress here has been slow --- life has been completely nuts in Wisconsin recently. Netroots Wisconsin is at least in part about working together to take back our state, and to find strategic ways to do so. Recent events make it clear that we need to keep plugging away.
That being said, I have made myself a promise that by next week the site will have:
1. More information on the conference.
2. Information on sponsorships and a way to sign up for sponsorships.
3. Better linkage to other social media.
4. A way for people to propose panels and sessions.
May 19 and 20 will be an exciting weekend in the Chippewa Valley. Two events will be set up for Wisconsin progressives --
FightingBobFestNorth will be up first, on May 19. Fighting Bob has come again to Chippewa Falls, and will feature a day of inspiring political speeches, panels, and workshops. The speaker list is still in flux, but expect a day of great speakers from Wisconsin and around the country, great food, good local beer, and a day of progressive discussion.
Then the next day, follow up with a day of workshops and training at Netroots Wisconsin 2012. This will be the second Netroots Wiscosnin, and it will also be held in Chippewa Falls. Expect workshops on citizen journalism, video, social media, campaigning, and more.
To find out more about both events as they are planned, sign up for our email list.
This year we will be meeting at the Avalon Conference Center in Chippewa Falls, WI. Rooms will be available at the conference center, and we will be adding more information to the site soon.
We're in the final discussions about a venue for Netroots Wisconsin 2012, and the details should be going up on this site over the weekend. In the meantime, keep May 19 and 20 free for Fighting Bob Fest North and Netroots Wisconsin, both in Chippewa Falls. This year there will be both a block of hotel rooms and a campground available for people attending.
Information about sponsorships for Netroots Wisconsin and conference fees will also be up on the site in the next week.
In the mean time ---- Let us know if you have any suggestions or ideas for Netroots Wisconsin!
